3 Reasons Why A Garbage Collector Became UFC Champ

Georges St Pierre was considered the best pound for pound fighter in the world for many years. His technique was impeccable, his fighting style was to perfection, and his strength and physique were unmatchable… All those were big reasons to him becoming the long reigning champion, although the absolute main reason he had technique, physique and a great fighting style lay in his mental abilities. The outer world is always a reflection of the inner realm, the roots create the fruits, and the invisible manifests the visible. He states “Your body can do great things, only if it believes it can accomplish them.” GSP’s mental assets allowed him to work hard, be efficient, fearless, and continuously keep moving… We’ll let Georges St Pierre explain his own wisdom:

"Do you want to know what I like best about myself? The truth is, I’ve become “great” at maybe only one thing: dedication. I’ve found a way to turn what some call hard work into a game and an exercise into efficiency. I turned garbage collection into a race because it’s good cardiovascular exercise, because it’s good power training and because it makes the day go by faster. Efficiency for me is an obsession, an addiction. It not only helps me get stronger, but makes things simpler.”

“The only way forward in life is innovation. And innovation, born from true creativity, depends on movement. Life, after all, is all about motion, whereas stasis is equivalent to death.”

“Standing still is never a good option. Not in the ring and not in life outside the octagon either. When you stop moving you’re done.”

“For me, personally, when I’m afraid of something – when you’re afraid of something, normally you try to go away, you try to avoid it. Instead of avoiding it, to overcome your fear, I believe you need to embrace it.”

“Fear is the genesis of most of the good things that have occurred in my life. Fear is the beginning of every success I’ve had.”
