Christopher Nolan Movies Have A Special Formula

Hugely successful English Director Christopher Nolan has made some of the biggest blockbuster movies from The Dark Knight series to Inception and Interstellar. It's obvious that his movies are not reliant on just special effects, nor famous actors he brings on board, although they do play a pivotal piece to the success of Christopher Nolan movies.

But let's take it a step further - the capital he attains from investors for "those intangibles" certainly helps the cause. But why do the big guys always want to invest their money in him and his masterpieces. Right, it's him, it's Christopher Nolan that brings in the money, and his knack for brilliantly creating these psychological thriller type movies.

And when we look a level deeper, it's the skill-set he has for directing to such precision. And when we think of all the schooling and experience he has in the film industry it can become quite clear why he's that good.

But, it always works in reverse, the drive and ambition he had to become talented came from his, wait for it - his underlying passion for making movies. And he seemed to have a ton of it! That is the single biggest reason and the main ingredient to his successful potion of being a genius in the film directing field.

"I just love photographing things and putting them together to tell a story."

At an astonishing 7 years old, Nolan commenced his life's work, and when your that young what do you usually pursue in anything you do? That's right, stuff you enjoy. Kid's seem to attract and follow that inner road map very closely.

So at 7, he was making short movies with his dad's Super -8 camera. He loved watching films a ton too. Christopher Nolan's favourite movies growing up were A Space Odyssey, The Black Hole and Star Wars to name just a few - and he clearly got many concepts and ideas from them too. He was also inspired heavily by Director Stanley Kubrick. Nolan definitely had a deep sense of desire and purpose as he once was noted saying "By the time I was 10 or 11, I knew I wanted to make films." It wasn't just a feeling or a guess or something random, but like he says in the quote - he KNEW.

Even his idea for Inception came from his childhood imaginations...

"I've been interested in dreams since I was a kid and I've wanted to do a film about them for a long time."

The fire and desire he had distinctly led him to continue his studies at University College London where he studied English Literature and shot 16-millimetre films at the film society.

Shockingly, he didn't even go to film school - but just really enjoyed making films, and he gained a ton of experience that way. He would do a bunch of camera and sound work on training videos.

"I've always been a movie guy, movies have been my thing. I love movies, all kinds of movies."

#MoralOfTheStory: Find your own unique passion. It's deep within and may take some time finding. But don't settle in your pursuit of it, it will seriously be worth the ride, as it was for Christopher Nolan and making movies!
