Inner Keys to Success:
- FULLY INDULGE YOURSELF IN YOUR DREAM & HAVE PATIENCE: Eminem’s scapegoat to a poverty lifestyle was hip hop music. “I didn't have nothin' going for me... school, home... until I found something I loved, which was music, and that changed everything.”Hewas introduced to the art by his uncle Ronnie who gave him his first album. He was said to have stayed up late nights looking through dictionaries and coming up with rhyme schemes. At the early age of only 14 Eminem began rapping in nightclubs in Detroit. Practicing the “right way” makes perfection. It took him a whopping 10 years to finally get noticed and hit the lime light.
- DON’T LET SURROUNDINGS NEGATIVELY IMPACT YOUR FUTURE, PERSEVERE: Eminem overcame adversity in a massive way. Being a white rapper, growing up in an African American majority neighbourhood made it very difficult for Eminem to make a name for himself, but the man understood perseverance. He suffered a lot of hatred and had even gotten beat up on several occasions, being a victim coupled with the fact that he dropped out at 17, Eminem had all odds against him. As he preaches in Till I Collapse, “you gotta find that inner strength, and just pull that shit out of you. And get that motivation to NOT give up and NOT be a quitter. No matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse.”
- ALWAYS BE PREPARED FOR EVERY OPPORTUNITY: Growing up in the slums, Eminem learned the benefits of always being ready for whatever came his way. This transfers over to his music accordingly. Eminem got his big break when after already entering numerous competitions, he was prepared once again to enter a rap battle called “Rap Olympics” which had a meager prize of $500 and a Rolex that he was going to use to pawn off to feed his daughter and survive the next few weeks. Not only was Eminem victorious, this sparked a his careers in a small way, and a few years later, he was heard by Aftermath CEO and record producer Dr. Dre who signed Eminem to a major record deal.
"Everybody has goals, aspirations or whatever, and everybody has been at a point in their life where nobody believed in them.” - Eminem
