This Fight Club scene gets the point across in the most "tough-love" way possible, by putting a gun to a guys (Raymond K Hessel) head in a convenient store and telling him to follow his heart of being a veterinarian or he will die. Why such harshness? Sometimes the patient needs "awful tasting medicine" to be cured. Of course, by patient we mean a person that has been programmed through society to do something he doesn't like, to buy stuff and impress people he doesn't care about, and by medicine we mean to wake up the person from that programming to finally take a shot of something he's dreamed of or has had a passion for his whole life.
