Jameis Winston motivational quotes

Jameis Winston Has Another 'Role-Model-Like' Side

The 2015 first overall pick, Jameis Winston, was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has been considered a villain to many people for a few different reasons. However, when given the opportunity to showcase his other side, an aspiring role model with vision and strong motivating words to uplift, he can truly be seen in a whole another perspective. As in the few cases below, we see Jameis Winston giving powerful speeches to high school kids, admitting to making mistakes but learning from them, and empowering his teammates with his capable and charismatic leadership skills.

When he got the opportunity to speak to the teens at Ossie Ware Mitchell Middle School in Alabama, he rose to the occasion and delivered some amazing value for the young kids. Click this link to see the full inspiring speech.

He boldly told the kids (regardless of some laughter) how important it is to be smart, to get an education and to believe in your unique one-of-a-kind selves.

"Everybody in here is smart. I don't want you to tell yourself, 'Shoot, I'm not smarter than him.'"

"As long as you are smart. As long as you abide by the rules, you can do anything that you put your mind to,'' he said. "...Tell yourself you are smart. When you tell yourself you're smart, when you tell yourself something over and over again, it becomes a reality."

Jameis Winston understands from his own experience, the importance of minding yourself how great you are, and that the repetitiveness of those types of statements eventually becomes ingrained from within. In fact, he has never been shy to openly state how great he is and how legendary he will become. He told the male students at the school to affirm to themselves:

"I'm powerful. I am smart. I am confident. I am smart."

Winston continued, telling the young female students to say:

"I am beautiful. I am smart. I am strong. I am smart."

To all the students collectively, he reminded them that, "You have something unique about you. You can do anything you put your mind to".

When it came to his accomplishment of winning the BCS Championship on his birthday he had revealed to a reporter what he said to pump up his team and get the winning mindset inside each member of the team. The Young-Generation magazine Elite Daily put his motivational speech in their top 10 Locker Room Speeches list. Here's what he said in the remarkable post game interview :

"We had to go back to playing Florida State football. We came out here. We were letting us be bigger than the game. We were bigger than the game. We had to say, ‘Hey, let’s play Florida State football,’ because can’t nobody be bigger than this game. And we did that, and we came out victorious."

"I said, guys, we didn’t come here for no reason. I said, guys, this is ours, man. All the adversity we went through the first few quarters, it was ours to take. And like I’ve been saying, we control our own destiny. And those men looked me in my eye and they said, ‘We got this, Jameis.’ And I said … we said … I said, ‘Are you strong?’ They said, ‘I’m strong if you strong.’ I said, ‘We strong, then.’”

"We just. We champions. We can share that we are champions together. And through everything that we went through, through all the haters, through every single thing ,we came out victorious. And God did this. I’m so blessed. He’s so blessed. All the stuff he handled with Ethan. And he come in here and coach us? That touched me. And it’s nobody but God. It’s nobody."

Jameis Winston is clearly finding another element aside from his extremely talented gifts within football. Even though her received much criticism, he is slowly finding his grove, and fighting back into a much more positive role model and a great leader. He admits to his mistakes, and remember, the kid is in his early 20's.

"One thing that helped me realize about all my mistakes is getting a chance to be around the kids. I went to read at this elementary [school] in Tallahassee. When I see how those kids look up to me, I feel bad about myself. The hardest thing is just being real with yourself and just letting you know that you let somebody down."

"I got so many people to inspire and I got so many little kids looking up to me, not only as a quarterback, but as a person, and I want to be that role model for them."

"I want to let you all know, I know I've made mistakes, I know I have a past, but right now it's about me moving forward and earning the trust of all these 32 teams out there."

"I have to earn your trust. I can't talk about the situations or anything like that in the past. But what I can do is prove to you, and let you watch me grow into being the face of your franchise."

"I'm a young man, and now I'm going to the next level to take a grown man's position, and that's important to me."

Jameis Winston also discussed in another interview how he does not like to be just compared to the other rookies, but wants to aim higher, to get into the elite category as soon as possible and strives to be in the same discussions as Manning and Brady. He definitely has the confidence and self worth down pat:

"This is not no competition just between me and Mariota. Because one thing about me, I plan on winning the Super Bowls in the next year, so it's going to be Jameis versus Peyton Manning and Jameis versus Tom Brady. I want to be viewed like that. After all this combine stuff, you're not going to hear no more about Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota. But I want my name to stay relevant for the next 15 to 20 years of my career."

"My actions. We'll see in a year. You can't predict the future, I can't predict the future. But what I can do right now is do what I need to do to be the face of a franchise."

"I dream of being a Hall of Famer one day."

Time will tell, but for now, his words, actions and most importantly, his mentality are certainly lining up nicely for big time success.
