John Lennon Inspiration

Keys Success Lessons From Lennon's Biography:

John Lennon Was A Non-Conformist, He Took Up Space, And Broke Some Rules:

John Lennon was a non-conformist in every sense of the word. He was known as a prankster as a youngster, and was no stranger to getting in trouble. In fact, the school master actually encouraged Lennon to join art school since he was much better at drawing (as he often drew grotesque figures and cripples) than at textbook learning. His school report literally said “Certainly on the road to failure... hopeless . . . rather a clown in class...wasting other pupils' time” (Quary Bank School, Liverpool). In college, Lennon failed his GCE O-level examinations, but was still able to get into Liverpool College of Art because his aunt intervened. In college, he gained a reputation for mocking teachers. His rebellious behaviour even included sitting on a nude model's lap in a life drawing class. Lennon was eventually thrown out of the college. This attitude continued in his music career as he was a huge influence and advocate of the hippie movement and became known for his “peace” ideology which went against political structure and war. “Part of me would like to be accepted by all facets of society and not be this loudmouthed lunatic poet/musician. But I cannot be what I am not ... I was the one who all the other boys' parents—including Paul's father—would say, 'Keep away from him'... The parents instinctively recognised I was a troublemaker, meaning I did not conform and I would influence their children, which I did. I did my best to disrupt every friend's home.”

John Lennon Was Inspired By The Greats, And Motivated By Life Events:

John Lennon was inspired by the king of rock, Elvis Presley. At 16 years old, Lennon created his first band “Quarry Men,” which was named after his school Quarry Bank School. Paul McCartney eventually became a part of the band when Lennon met him at a church event. The name The Beatles was later thrust upon them after being inspired by Buddy Holiday’s group “The Crickets,” and in fact, the first cover song the band recorded was Holiday’s “That’ll be the day.” Taking action on these inspiring events led the Beatles to major fame, it was their ability to act on intuition that made all the difference. As for motivation, although Lennon lived with his aunt, his mother bought him his first guitar where the guitar was delivered to her own house, and not Lennon’s Aunt, because her sister did not support her son's music dreams. Lennon’s aunt didn’t believe he would be famous one day, and secretly hoped he would become bored with music, "The guitar's all very well, John, but you'll never make a living out of it. At 17, Lennon’s mother died in a car accident that involved an off-duty police officer, which changed his perception of life forever. Even the negative events, when seen in the right light can be a driving force.

John Lennon Was A Dreamer, He Believed In His Philosophy Of Peace, And Love Wholeheartedly:

John Lennon’s achievements came from his high beliefs in his philosophies of peace, love, and dreamer mentality. Lennon had a different approach to life that created a major loyal following, where most people would say they don’t believe in anything until it’s proven, Lennon’s philosophy was the opposite, “I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?.”  John Lennon’s mentality set himself up for success, he easily believed in the impossible. “Make your own dream. That's the Beatles' story, isn't it? That's Yoko's story, that's what I'm saying now. Produce your own dream.”

"You don't need anybody to tell you who you are or what you are. You are what you are!" – Quote by John Lennon

Inspiring Fact:

When asked which lyric was the best he’d ever written, his response was “That’s easy, ‘All you need is love.’” However, shockingly, John Lennon didn't like his own voice much, he would often ask the Beatles producer George Martin to cover his voice.
