Justin Timberlake's Innovator Award Speech Will Guide You To Greatness

Justin Timberlake won the innovator accolade for the 2015 iHeart radio Music awards and gave a pretty killer speech in the process. He talked about his mother always encouraging him to be different, and that being different gives you a much better shot at making a big difference.

He discusses some of the most influential words that have kept him motivated throughout his journey to becoming an accomplished innovator. Timberlake quotes and credits one of the greatest innovators of all time, creator of Apple, Steve Jobs and his Stanford commencement words of wisdom “stay hungry, stay foolish”.

He also reiterated the 26th president Theodore Roosevelt’s powerful “The man in the arena” quote: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

Timberlake finishes with some empowering words for the young generation, saying “If you’re being called weird or your being called different, or whatever the hell your being called, I’m here to tell you, your critics do not count, their words will fade, you won’t. Stay foolish, stay hungry. Dream, work hard.”
