Ronaldo's Selfless Teammate

Cristiano Ronaldo gave his old youth club teammate and true friend Albert Fantrau a new car and a gorgeous home in return for a very generous deed - and that's an understatement!

Scouts told the team that whoever scored more goals would be accepted to their academy. Both Ronaldo and Albert had scored a goal and Albert was now up to score again as he beat the goalie and just needed to place the ball in the empty net to be accepted. However, he pulled one of the most selfless acts, as Ronaldo himself said “All he had to do was to score that goal but he passed it to me and I scored the third goal, so I got that spot and went to the academy." Albert never did continue playing to that level of competitiveness and admitted to curious journalists that he was unemployed, but also had the life of his dreams - a beautiful house, car and family. He also genuinely admitted about his friend Ronaldo that “He was better than me.” A very ego-less man who was rewarded one way or another for his truth abiding and abundant thinking ways .

When Ronaldo had won the UEFA champions league, rather than celebrate his triumph with his teammates, he decided to split the crowd and find his true teammate from back in the days who attended the game in Lisbon. Cristiano Ronaldo approached Albert and gave him a humongous hug of affection and gratitude. A remarkable moment for the history of sports that shows what genuine friendship, unselfishness and loyalty are all about.

"I have to thank my old friend Albert Fantrau for my success. We played together for the same team in the U-18 championship. When a scout came to see us he said that “Whoever scores more goals will come into our academy.”" - Cristiano Ronaldo
