Your mind just slows down, and you see a tremendous expanse in the moment. You see so much more than you could see before.”

“You know how about three days a year you get a good night’s sleep, and feel ‘Oh, this is how I should feel all the time,’ but you can’t get more than three good nights’ sleep a year because of life circumstances?” With Transcendental Meditation, you can have that everyday. When I was doing the series for 22 to 24 episodes a year on network television—not cable!—for nine years, that’s a lot of work, everyday. And while everybody was having lunch I would do TM. That was how I survived the nine years. Those 20 minutes in the middle of the day saved me,” – Jerry Seinfeld

“It’s something that’s with you for your whole life. You learn your mantra, it never leaves you, and it’s the deepest rest your brain gets. For people that are so creative and have this kind of creative faucet that never turns off – it just continues and continues – it can be a little exhausting. And, you know, with the continual responsibility of having 127 people on the road, and always being the point person for everything, my subconscious is going even when I’m sleeping. I’m dreaming about whatever I’m creating next, or relationships, or blah, blah, blah. So I’m never really off. And meditation is actually the one time I get to really reset,” – Katy Perry in an interview with Rolling Stone
16.) Rick Rubin
Rolling Stone interviewed Rick Rubin on his lifetime of practicing transcendental meditation (since he was 14 years old). He says “typically, I’ll wake up, sit up in bed, and do 20 minutes. When I wake up in the morning, usually the remnants of dreams are still very present in me, and it takes me a minute to get to be me again. I’m a little lost when I wake up. TM helps me center and ground myself. When possible, I do it again before dinner. Then the evening starts as more of its own time, and not just a continuation of the busy work day. Although sometimes it’s a busy night.”
“I’m more attracted to the mystical side, but the reality is there’s all these scientific surveys that support the mysticism. It usually works that way — eventually science catches up to the magic.”

I had a very clear feeling that I’d always been in meditation, that I’d never left meditation. That it was a much more substantial reality than what we normally take to be reality. That was very clear to me even then, but it’s taken me this long in my life to bring it out into the world more, through more time practicing, watching my mind, trying to generate bodhicitta.”

The simple act of making my brain shut off for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night may not seem like much, but what ends up happening, besides creating space in your day, is your awake posture begins to replicate your meditative posture.“

If you sit there long enough, you run through all the alternative ways the events in your life could have turned out. After a while, the activity of thinking, that interior chatter, begins to subside from time to time. And what rushes in, in the same way that light rushes into a room when you switch on the light, is another kind of mood that overtakes you.
Madonna has been said to practice meditation religiously, as she devotes herself to it on a daily basis.
