Pharrell Williams’ song HAPPY was a major hit, and in a sense, a major comeback of his. The song was written to evoke some positive energy into the music industry, as stated by Pharrell himself. Not only the song itself is an inspiration of “feel good” vibes, but the road to its popularity is also an inspiration. When Pharrell applied for his hit song to be an anthem in the hit movie Despicable Me 2, he was rejected a whopping 9 times. He states “My song submissions for this scene in Despicable Me 2 were rejected nine times, I’m thankful that people now know my name where they hadn’t before.” Not only this, Pharrell stated in a tweet that 9 different versions were rejected, and that he had to change his approach to writing the song, he had to stop “thinking” and start “feeling” instead.
