3 Key Lessons To Learn From Shakira’s Inspirational Story
Shakira Didn’t Let Literally Anyone Tell Her That She Couldn’t Do What She Loved, Sing!
Growing up, when Shakira joined the choir in grade 2, she was told by her music teacher that she sounded “like a goat”, and was banned from the class, but Shakira did not let the adversity affect her in any way. Even after her first meet with the Sony executives (which came after many talent shows, and practicing day and night) she was told she was a “lost cause” because she didn’t have control of her voice, but this didn’t stop her, in fact it made her that much more ambitious. Success would be inevitable because she didn’t let anyone tell her she couldn’t make it. In fact, she admires peoples’ honesty “I prefer an ugly truth to a pretty lie. If someone is telling me the truth that is when I will give my heart.”
Shakira Made A True Decision To Herself That She Will Achieve Her Dreams:
Shakira literally made the decision and set out an intention to make her dreams a reality. Her dad, after going bankrupt, took her to an orphanage and when Shakira saw the kids, she told herself “one day I’m going to help these kids when I become a famous artist.” In a sense, this was a way of visualizing a better life even in the worst of situations. In a biographical interview by Biography.com, she stated that as a youngster she would constantly dream of being a star, and being known by the entire world. The decision to become successful is what led to her strong beliefs.
Shakira Took Full Control Of Her Own Destiny:
She took full control of her destiny even though music executives didn’t see eye to eye with her talents. After Shakira launched her first 2 albums, they failed miserably to become successful (these are now known as “promotional” albums) because of the lack of marketing. This didn’t stop her, instead, she took time off, and came back bigger than ever. On her 4th album she decided to take full control of her career, and produced her songs on her own. These songs became a hit. She is now known to write the majority of her own work. Take control of your own life, only you know what works for you.
“In this life, to earn your place you have to fight for it.” – Quote by Shakira
Little Known Success Fact:
Shakira doesn’t drink, smoke, or even drink coffee. She claims to rarely eat junk food which shows in her belly dancing talents. She dedicates her fitness to extreme discipline, (a trait that was required for her massive success as an artist and an amazing performer).
